About

John Dragonetti is an American film and television composer based in Los Angeles.

His score for The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez (dir. Brian Knappenberger), which was one of Netflix’s most watched docuseries of 2020, featured The London Contemporary Orchestra and also won BMI’s Streaming Series Award that year. His latest project, Turning Point: The Vietnam War, leans into a more experimental palate drawing from the darker side of 1960’s and 70’s psychedelia. Other recent scores with Knappenberger include the film Scouts Honor and the series’ Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War and 9/11 and the War on Terror. Earlier works include the Doug Pray classic Surfwise, The Internet’s Own Boy, We Are Legion, All About Nina (dir. Eva Vives), Hysterical (dir. Andrea Nevins), HOME for AppleTV, FX’s Married (S2), and Small Town Security (AMC).

Dragonetti is also a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and music producer. He’s a founding member, along with Blake Hazard, of the band The Submarines. The group released three critically acclaimed albums on Nettwerk Records and toured Internationally. Their songs have been featured in Apple iPhone ads and numerous films and television shows including Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, The Good Place, Weeds, Nip/Tuck and Grey’s Anatomy.

Under long time alias Jack Drag, Dragonetti has collaborated with Aimee Mann, Dylan Gardner, Sarah Martin (Belle & Sebastian), Dan the Automator and Chris Shaw. He also produced, alongside Mike Sawitzke, the Dispatch album America: Location 12 and Dylan Gardner’s Adventures in Real Time. He is currently working on an album titled The Deleted Dream Sequence.

His commercial compositions have been featured in spots for brands such as Apple, Lexus, Volkswagen, NPR, Coca-Cola, Volvo and EA Games.
